How ActiCal was founded, our mission and where we’re headed

Hi, I’m Nils
In 2023, I was part of a Swedish motocross club. Each member was to contribute to keeping the track open for practice. Keeping track of schedule and history was a mess. Emails, group chats, spreadsheets, last-minute sms with a cancellation, updates on websites, lists. The admin spent more time chasing people and still had to maintain lists and hold organization members accountable. It wore people out. Some were contributing significantly more than their fair share while many others were forgetting or ignoring their agreed upon quota of contribution.
I looked for a simple tool that could fix this. Didn’t find one. That’s how ActiCal started. Two of my closest friends joined the team. We first used it in the club, people liked it, and we quickly heard the same story from other clubs, teams, and small groups. We felt we could actually help, so we kept going.
Our mission
Make shared responsibilities clear and easy to handle. We want organization members to see what’s expected, swap shifts without drama, and stay in the loop.
Clear expectations make people show up. Fairness keeps them engaged.
Where we’re headed
We want technology to bring people together offline, not keep them glued to screens. Face-to-face connection matters more than ever. If a simple, thoughtful tool can make that easier for clubs and teams everywhere, that’s worth doing.
There are countless of organizations out in the world that need help. We’re just getting started in Sweden with non-profit sports organizations. We’re aiming for a wider range of organizations across europe.
